3rd Annual Kris Kringle Crackdown III – The PRI Show Big Time Slot Car Race Is Still Happening LIVE Today!

With the SEMA Show and PRI both cancelled this year due to COVID-19, it has been a major blow to a lot of “festivities” that happen each year. But despite that, we’ve all seemed to have figured out how to survive as best we can and to keep moving forward for a better 2021. With that said, the folks at Innovative Slots have decided that their annual Slot Car race is happening whether PRI is in town or not. Normally this event revolves around PRI, but not this year. Thanks to the fine folks at MotorManiaTV, you’ll be able to watch all the action LIVE from Innovative Slots. They are going to keep the streak alive and are holding the event regardless in order to keep some sense of normalcy. We don’t blame them, and cant’ wait to watch all the live action tomorrow thanks to Mark and Joanne.

Here is all the info. CLICK PLAY BELOW TO WATCH.

It’s become an annual tradition to stream the big slot car race run during the Performance Racing Industry trade show each year from Innovative Slots. This year is no different! Join us at 10:45 Saturday morning for this years running of the Kris Kringle Crackdown!

Rebeldryver Walks Us Through Another Massive Wrecking Yard Full Of Classic Iron In Nebraska

Rebeldryver Walks Us Through Another Massive Wrecking Yard Full Of Classic Iron In Nebraska

Scott Liggett, aka Rebeldryver, is a longtime BANGshifter from way way way back, and a guy that always has a line on some cool car or another. He’s a resident of the wonderful state of Nebraska and knows where every salvage or wrecking yard is, along with every dilapidated car lot that still has something of interest parked on it. Nobody I know spends more time wandering through wrecking yards, and that means he is always coming home with great parts. I can tell you first hand that I have a few boxes in my garage full of much needed parts that came from Scott’s hunting, and I love him for it. A few months ago he started posting up a few videos of some of his adventures and this week he’s visited Andersen’s Self Service Wrecking in Kearney Nebraska to show us some of the bitchin stuff they’ve got hiding in the lot.

Before you get all fired up to head out with the trailer, ready to buy some of these cool rides, know that NONE of them are for sale whole. These are available for parts only. ONLY PARTS, and while that is disappointing on the one hand, it is also kinda cool because the parts from these abandoned hulks can save dozens of cool projects each, and that is what matters.

This is part one of two from this trip, so check it out and let us know what you think. Also, give a LIKE to the video and subscribe to Scott’s channel if you want to see more of this. We sure do!

WILD RIDE: Top Sportsman Racer, Ronnie Proctor, Goes For One Hell Of A Ride

WILD RIDE: Top Sportsman Racer, Ronnie Proctor, Goes For One Hell Of A Ride

Sometimes stuff just doesn’t go the way you think it’s going to go, and sometimes when that happens it will get your attention in a hurry. Such is the case with poor Ronnie Proctor, who went for one hell of a wild ride at Indy yesterday. You have to give him some credit for keeping his head on straight. Sure he’s along for the ride for most of it, but thank god he kept his foot off the skinny pedal on the right, because otherwise this sucker could have been running into the tree from the wrong way. You have to wonder what his heart rate was as he got it straight and rolled past the blocks after getting unbelievably close to crossing the center line. Of course none of that matters at that point, but most racers can’t say they’ve been facing both directions in their own lane before even going 330 feet down the track, nor would they want to.

At least if you are going to do something exciting you might as well make sure it counts, and since it is the US Nationals, you know that it will all be caught on camera. Since he’s okay, and so is the car, we’ll give him a hearty congrats on being the talk of the town for today and hope the rest of his weekend goes smoother than this one run.

We HAVE OIL PRESSURE! The Record Setting Gen V LT Motion Raceworks Nova Is Back In Action!

We HAVE OIL PRESSURE! The Record Setting Gen V LT Motion Raceworks Nova Is Back In Action!

Well…… it turns out the problem with Doug Cook’s Motion Raceworks Nova may not have been what was originally thought. You’ll remember that this 7 second machine made huge power on the dyno just days before Rocky Mountain Race Week and then on day one of Race Week has an oil leak that made them look at the oil tank, which then made them find metal in the oil. Like smart people they decided that it was time to pull the plug and not ruin this expensive engine. Instead they raced Wally, the awesome FB Marketplace purchased Crown Vic that got copious amounts of Nitrous all week. When they got home the engine came out of the Nova, got sent to the machine shop, and that’s when things get…well…confusing? Well maybe not confusing. Curious? Interesting? Puzzling?

Or maybe it’s lucky. Either way, the engine is back from the machine shop, Doug and the gang are getting ready to put it back in, and they are taking all of us on the whole fun adventure to show just what is going into the beast before it has to get some testing done so it can leave on Rocky Mountain Race Week 2020 2.0 in a few weeks.

Watch the video, hang with the crew, and Doug will attempt to explain just what went wrong and how they fixed it.

Classic YouTube: Ronnie Sox’s 1995 Crash At The IHRA Summernationals At U.S. 41 Dragway

Classic YouTube: Ronnie Sox’s 1995 Crash At The IHRA Summernationals At U.S. 41 Dragway

Ronnie Sox needs no introduction here. The Sox and Martin cars instantly bring in images of red, white and blue Plymouths fitted with a four-speed manual and the man from North Carolina who could run that gearbox like P.T. Barnum’s lion trainer. Between 1968-1971, Sox was beating all comers with his stick-shifted Mopars. In 1972 the NHRA gave weight breaks to Fords and Chevrolets, which hurt his win streak, and when the Lenco transmission appeared, Sox was the only racer to actually slow down. By 1975 the Sox and Martin deal had folded and Ronnie went out on his own. In 1995 Sox paired off again with Buddy Martin and was fielding a Ford Probe in IHRA competition, right up until the Summernationals at U.S. 41 Dragway in Indiana.

Shortly after the launch, an oil line blew out and coated the track the car was on. Ronnie attempted to drive through as the car slid into the left lane, but when the back end came around on him and the tires dug in, there was no saving it. The Probe rolled fourteen times violently, throwing body panels before slamming down onto all four wheels with the engine on fire. Sox suffered a broken sternum, broken ribs, a bruised eye, and “a whole lot of other injuries. It was a bad scene,” he later told CompetitionPlus. Though he ran exhibitions up until 2005 and even ran Pro Stock Truck in 1998, the 1995 crash took a huge toll on Mr. Four-Speed.

LIVE Big Money Bracket Racing For Juniors! The Summer Blast Race Is A Junior Dragsters Only Event With Big Money On The Line.

LIVE Big Money Bracket Racing For Juniors! The Summer Blast Race Is A Junior Dragsters Only Event With Big Money On The Line.

For the last few years people have been talking about putting on big money bracket races just for the Jr. Dragster crowd, and to answer that call is The Summer Blast race at Beaver Springs Dragway where Jr. Dragster racers will be going after $10,000! Can you imagine winning $10,000 at 10 years old? Or even at 15? Hell no, but these kids are going for it. We’re talking big stakes, killer reaction times, and family for for the weekend. It’s The Summer Blast and all the action is live right here thanks to our friends at MotorManiaTV. Watch all the action below, and don’t forget to like and share and subscibe and ring the bell and rub your belly and whatever else they tell you to do for YouTube videos!

What I love about this race is that there is nothing else going down the track that the Jr. Dragster drivers have to play second fiddle to. This is their chance to be the stars, outside of the Jr. Finals and those kinds of points races. This is all about them, the way it should be, and I imagine the energy there is intense and fun. I bet the parent crew chiefs are feeling the pressure today too!

The Greatest Drag Racing Wheelstand Video Ever Made? We Think So – More Than Four Minutes Of Bumper Dragging Fury

The Greatest Drag Racing Wheelstand Video Ever Made? We Think So – More Than Four Minutes Of Bumper Dragging Fury

We love wheelstand videos and we know that you do as well. Know who else does? Sean Melton of Urban Hillbilly Action Video and he’s got an archive of footage from his years at the drag strip that boggles the mind. Sean has been cranking out some great compilation videos recently but this is out favorite one yet. As in the other videos, Sean combines great video clips from years back with stuff that he has shot in more recent times.

One of the things that videos like this remind us of is the fact that there’s been absolutely nutty stuff happening, particularly with “small tire” drag cars for some years now. It kind of makes us feel old. Today’s world of advanced suspension designs, tire compounds, data acquisition, and pin point tuning see that the record books are rewritten on an almost week to week basis. The cars are still wild and they are faster than ever but it is always awesome to glance back to see the types of cars and runs that built the scene that we have today. This footage was shot at tracks all over the country and you’ll surely see some cars in here that you’ll remember.

This is over four minutes of non-stop craziness. Guys on one wheel, guys with all four off the ground and landings that range from violent to total plane crash level will keep you glued to your screen. Watching this video with my kids it was a slew of OHHHHs and WOAHHHHs though the whole thing. Grab the other guys in the shop, the other people in the office, or the weird booger eating guy on the other side of your cubicle and press play. Everyone loves this stuff!

How It’s Made Video: Follow A Cam From Core Selection To Finish Product At The COMP Cams Factory!

This is an awesome video that shows us some amazing stuff about one of the aftermarket industry’s truly important names. Yes, we are going inside the COMP Cams factory in Tennessee to see how a camshaft is made from the selection of the core to the machining and even to the micro finishing processes that COMP offers on their products as well. Things have come a long way since guys like Ed Iskendarian started grinding their own camshafts far more than a half century ago.

From the materials to the processes, accuracy, and quality, this is as good as it gets in the industry. COMP has been making camshafts for street guys, NASCAR teams, NHRA drag racing teams, sports car teams, open wheel racing competitors, monster truck racers, and anything else you can think of for longer than many of you reading this have been alive. Along the way they have taken every piece of acquired knowledge and plowed it back into their company to make products better. They continue to do that today.

The fascinating thing about this process to us is that it’s still very human. It is not just some massive automative factory with no people in it. There’s human talent at every step of this trip and we think you’ll appreciate that as well. The mix of cutting edge equipment and practices with the skilled hands of true machinists is a really fun intersection to watch.

Enjoy this amazing look behind the scenes at COMP Cams and the truly cool birth of a camshaft!

All 4 Wheels Off The Ground And Yet Maybe The Smoothest Save Ever! Wild Nitrous Nova Ride

All 4 Wheels Off The Ground And Yet Maybe The Smoothest Save Ever! Wild Nitrous Nova Ride

When we were at the Throwdown in T-Town this past weekend there was tons of great drag racing, great performances, and plenty of wheelstand action. In fact there were a couple of pretty good saves as some cones gave up their lives in the name of good drag racing. But everyone on the property that saw this big block Nova on nitrous and drag radials pull the front end to the moon and drag the bumper, had their jaw on the ground. This thing came up quick, carried the front end out hard, and buried the rear bumper in the track surface. Before starting to come back down to the ground, both back tires were off the ground and this sucker was bouncing off the limiter. The driver then gave the most perfectly times blip and set this car down on the front end with NO bottoming out of any kind. No sparks, no drama, and kept the hammer down all the way down the race track. It was epic and super fun to watch.

Thanks to our friends at Urban Hillbilly Video, we’ve got the whole thing for you to watch. Check it out below.
